We tested all of the students with GLoSS and got them to explain their thinking. After drilling down we identified the biggest areas of need which were students having difficulty explaining their ideas and strategies, why or why not a strategy was successful and how they could apply strategies to real world problems. Once I identified these issues I could question and hear student voice with why they might feel they are struggling. They felt that they were learning the same thing over and over again (times tables) throughout their career in maths. This bored them and caused them to have a negative disposition towards maths.
